A planned AMCR outage will take place on 21 May 2025.

On Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at 5:50 p.m., there will be a planned shutdown of AMCR due to a server room network connection failure. AMCR will be restarted within a few tens of minutes.

New AMCR Launched

The new AMCR web application has been launched.

We are delighted to announce that the new AMCR web application is now live. Here is an overview of the newly available addresses:

Digital Archive Outage

The Digital Archive will be unavailable on 2 August 2024.

In connection with the ongoing transition to the web version of AMCR and the related technical modifications, the Digital Archive will be shut down on Friday, August 2, 2024. The shutdown will last several days, and the Digital Archive will be relaunched next week. The new web version of the AMCR application will also be launched at the beginning of next week. We will keep you informed about the launch and related news.

AMCR Outage and Migration

Desktop AMCR has been discontinued; migration to the web version is in progress.

The AMCR desktop client has been permanently shut down and the system is being migrated to the web version of the application. The AMCR and API will be unavailable for two to three weeks, and the AMCR Digital Archive may also experience outages. At the same time, the accompanying websites will also be migrated to the new version, i.e., this AMCR home page, the help section, and the form used to report construction or other projects carried out in areas with archaeological finds. During the downtime, you can already familiarize yourself with the new application at https://amcr-tr.aiscr.cz/ (your user account created before June 3, 2024, has been transferred to this version, or you can register as a new user). End of Desktop AMCR Client

The desktop AMCR client will be discontinued on 13 July 2024.

From July 13, 2024, the AMCR desktop client will be permanently shut down and replaced by a new web version of the application. For two to three weeks, the AMCR desktop client and AMCR API will be unavailable, and the AMCR Digital Archive may also experience outages. At the same time, the accompanying websites, this AMCR home page and AMCR help page (https://amcr-info.aiscr.cz/help/), and the form used to report construction or other projects carried out in areas with archaeological finds (https://amcr-info.aiscr.cz/oznameni) will also be migrated to the new versions.

In connection with the transition to the new version of AMCR, two online training sessions primarily intended for OAO (archaeology) employees will take place on June 26 (https://cesnet.zoom.us/j/96080975576) and July 10 (https://cesnet.zoom.us/j/98701161691), both starting at 9:00 a.m. via the Zoom application.

Please submit notifications of construction or other projects carried out in areas with archaeological finds in advance by mid-July, or later in the new application. During the outage, please address urgent notifications directly to the archaeological heritage departments of the Archaeological Institutes in Prague (https://www.arup.cas.cz/oznameni-o-stavebni-cinnosti-na-uzemi-s-archeologickymi-nalezy/) and Brno (https://www.arub.cz/archeologicke-sluzby/informace-pro-stavebniky/). Confirmation of compliance with the reporting obligation will be sent for these cases after the launch of the new version of AMCR at the beginning of August. If you need confirmation earlier, it will be issued upon request.

AMCR experienced an unplanned outage.

We apologize for the unplanned outage of AMCR throughout Wednesday. The system is expected to be back in operation on Thursday, February 9, 2023, in the evening. The email server at the Institute of Archaeology of the Czech Academy of Sciences in Prague is also currently down, so we apologize for not being able to respond to any inquiries you may have. We will take care of everything once services are restored. However, you can communicate with the Institute of Archaeology of the Czech Academy of Sciences in Brno as usual.

New Search Tool

Search modules are now available via the Digital Archive.

In connection with the improvement of applications and the gradual transition to a web environment, there has been an important change in the provision of search tools in the AMČR. The Map and Search modules are now available via the AMCR Digital Archive, rather than via the original desktop application. The search function has been significantly improved and linked to other functions of the Digital Archive. We believe that you will appreciate this change and that it will help to make AMČR data more accessible for the widest possible use.

The Digital Archive has been updated.

The Digital Archive has been updated with a number of new features! These include the ability to download full versions of documents, improved preview generation, added user help, a new way of browsing, automatically generated citations, and many other minor fixes and improvements that will ensure greater user comfort. In addition, you will find two completely new modules on the main screen—the Record of Individual Findings and the 3D Library, which will soon begin to fill up with interesting data. And you too can contribute to them through the new AMČR web client!

The notification processing system has been updated.

The system for processing notifications in the online form for reporting construction or other interventions has changed. In order to limit the issuance of confirmations with incorrect or incomplete information, confirmation of notifications is now sent to the specified email address only after the content has been checked by the Archaeological Institutes.

All text documents stored in the archives of the Institute of Archaeology of the Czech Academy of Sciences in Prague are now available in the AMCR Digital Archive. This marks the completion of the first stage of digitization and online access to the entire archive collection.

Corpus of Czech Hillforts

The Digital Archive now offers over 5,000 photographs of hillforts linked to sites and enriched with metadata.

More than 5,000 photographs of hillforts by Jiří Marounek are now available in the Digital Archive.
They are linked to corresponding sites and fully described with metadata.
Plans from the publication Encyclopedia of Hillforts in Bohemia are also attached.

The corpus now includes over 350 verified and precisely defined sites, which are also available in AMCR.
